Last week Coventry Biennial of Contemporary Art launched its new identity, website and announced the dates for its next edition – 4 October to 24 November 2019.
The busy event at The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum also saw the launch of a Kickstarter that will fund a series of commissions for artists from Coventry and Warwickshire as a part of the 2019 Biennial.
The Sky Blue Making strand of the festival will ensure the creation of opportunities for practitioners in the area, and allow them and their work to reach wider audiences. As in 2017, exhibitions, events and activities will take place in multiple venues across the city – in art galleries and museums as well as more unexpected locations. Funds raised through the Kickstarter will ensure that artists with CV postcodes, artists who are based in and making work in Coventry and Warwickshire, are included in these exhibitions.
Rewards include a prototype sculpture and catalogues from Juneau Projects, New Art West Midlands exhibition catalogues, risograph prints by Imogen Frost and Simon Poulter, Radius Sound Art Zines and Read the Future of the City card game by Coventry-based artist Lauren Heywood.
